Class Description

Class Title: Mixed Media Meet Up
Class Description:  Color and paper create a magical union and this class is all about experimenting, playing, and having fun with color and collage.  In this workshop, you will explore using a variety of mediums to add color and texture to paper.
You will begin the morning by creating your own handmade “nature” paint brush followed by a lively warm up painting papers using textural marks, shapes and symbols.
As a group, Roben-Marie will guide you through her popular Paint n’ Pass Round Robin for a fun collaborative exercise that will help you loosen up and get messy. This will set the stage as you learn and follow Roben-Marie's intuitive process for creating large scale painted papers using a variety of mediums including acrylic paints, pastels, pencils, crayons, inks and more.

Roben-Marie will share how she uses viewfinders to discover the most beautiful sections in your work, cut them down into smaller pieces and use them to create one-of-a-kind art collages on old book covers.

Experience Level: This session is for all who are willing to let loose and get messy…all skill levels welcome!

About Roben-Marie: Roben-Marie provides ideas, inspiration and quality instruction for hobbyists and art entrepreneurs. She teaches artists from beginners to those making a living from their art through her blog and her popular online workshops. Her art brings together acrylic paint, pastels, upcycled papers, wax crayons, pens, pencils, stitching and many other mediums in bold and colorful paintings and collages. It’s her place to let go, ditch perfectionism, and express herself with a blend of words, visuals and crafting.
As an artist, blogger, woman of faith and founder of Maker’s Tech U, her mission is to serve others and help them get the most out of their art as a hobby, or as a business. Seeing other creators embrace their unique voices, build their online art dreams and gain confidence in their new skills brings her great joy.
She has been a working artist since 2004, is self-taught and believes that anyone can cultivate their creative spark. She’s taught mixed media art workshops and retreats across the U.S. and internationally and her work has been featured in countless books and industry magazines.  She recently launched the Artist Life private podcast.
In her spare time she loves to read, bake all the things, sleep in and travel.  She lives in Florida with her husband of 33 years and together they work with the youths in their church, whom they see as family. Roben-Marie also has a heart for mission work, having served in Panama, El Salvador, Romania and Honduras.
