Class Title Creating Earth Body Books: Sacred & Somatic Stitching in Tactile Handmade Journals
Emma Freeman
intuitive artist, poet, teacher, deep diver
Class Description
Creating Earth Body Books During this gentle, intuitive workshop, we will explore connecting our bodies to the natural world around us through somatic stitching on beautiful, sacred, handmade cloth from around the world. We’ll go out together on an earth body walk, opening our senses and gathering small pieces of nature to add to our books like stones, feathers and pine needles. We will immerse ourselves in a nature sound bath (no swimsuit required) to tune into our bodies in a deeper way and we’ll feel into words through found poetry and writing exercises, weaving this all together to create soft, tactile books that will act as vessels or altars to our earth bodies in a playful, healing way. We’ll even explore dipping our books into the lake and burying them in the earth temporarily as a cleansing and releasing therapeutic process. All materials will be provided. Experience Level – all levels welcomed
