Class Description
With just a few guided steps, let’s hone your style & mark make w/ intention to create a series of small works. The steps provided in this workshop will help you figure out what makes your art YOURS. We’ll start with a short questionnaire. Add that to a few suggested art supplies & an exercise in working towards an end goal, you’ll leave this workshop with a better understanding of your personal style AND a series of work to look back on for reference. Think collage + mark making w/ a dash of stitching. All the good stuffs!
The end product will be a series of 4 (four) 4inch x 4inch pieces of artwork. All individual & gorgeous, that also work in harmony as a series.

Kit fee : $25
Kit includes : Project base, a uhu glue stick, stabilo marks all in black, a variety of fabric bits, a variety of vintage & new papers, chipboard shapes + access to shareable supplies like tapes of all sorts, diecuts, buttons, bits & bobs, black & white mediums +more.
Bio : DeeDee is the owner & creative director of UmWowStudio , a mixed media supply company.
She adores designing innovative products & sharing ideas on how to use them.
She is a mixed media artist with a flair towards vintage ephemera collage and mark making. She can be recognized for her enthusiasm in all things black and white, with some neutrals thrown in for good measure. She is an avid teacher and instructor and loves a great live demo! DeeDee is super happy showcasing supplies from her online mixed media shop, UmWowStudio. She enjoys the challenge of product design work, creating unique items for other artists to use, such as chipboard shapes, book bones, art tape & much more. DeeDee also shares her knowledge & encourages a good discussion about art fundamentals, while dabbling in many forms and media. She has a gift for sharing her “raw art brain” as she works through her art pieces, either live or recorded, allowing her genuine creativity to show through.

Supply List :
- Your favorite fabric bits (old, new, vintage, salvaged, fibers, ribbons, laces etc.) Raid your stash!
- Your favorite paper scraps (old, new, vintage, handmade, wallpaper, patterned, etc.) Raid your stash! For the fabric & paper… grab your scraps bin. Don’t bring big, new, fresh pieces. Keep it to a sandwich bag per or less.
- EITHER Paint Markers /or/ acrylic paint and a brush in your favorite TWO colors.
- Embroidery thread in your favorite TWO colors.
- Needle ^ ^ ^
- Permanent black pen : Pitt or Micron
- Pencil / sharpener
- Scissors
- Fabri-Tac or Fabri-Fix (just a small bottle)
- Stapler
- A roll of washi tape
- & don’t go NUTS, but think about things that make you happy… a couple small trinkets, some salvaged tin, maybe a particular number or sequence. Bring at least one (max of 3) of these.
