Class Description
In this workshop, Mary Beth will guide you through her process of making mixed media abstract collages. She will take you through the steps of free writing, creating personalized elements for collage, mark making, and more. You'll create and gather enough material to then compile them into a mixed-media collage painting on wood. Inspired by the beautiful surroundings of Squam Lake and the breathtaking landscape, Mary Beth will encourage you to explore marks, texture, layers, values, and more.
This class is designed to help you reconnect to SELF and explore the ways mixed media art can help you express your life using color, paper, and paint.
Experience Level: all levels welcomed

Kit Fee: $25-- USD
Your kit fee will be due to the teacher at the start of class. It is easier if you bring cash in the exact amount of the fee.
About Mary Beth: Mary Beth Shaw (affectionately known as StencilGirl) has been supporting and nurturing artists and creatives since the moment she opened the doors of StencilGirl Products in 2010. Her stencils are the entry to creative expression for people all around the world. Her classes have makers shift their mindset and her art inspires daily practices and consistency in her community.
Mary Beth worked in the insurance industry for many years and finally quit in 2000 to explore her creativity. She has never looked back and now fills her days with teaching, managing StencilGirl®Products (she founded the company in 2010) and making her own art. Mixed media is thrilling to her because of the freedom it offers; she feels like a mad scientist playing with all the options. Her process is a dance between spontaneity and intent and mistakes allow her to detour into new territory. Mary Beth is proud to be an educator for Golden Artist Colors and Silver Brush, LTD.

Supply List:
- Mary Beth will bring wood substrates for everyone, along with a kit of supplies for classroom use. In addition, she would like each student to bring:
- Small white paint (or gesso)
- 1 or 2 craft paints of your favorite colors
- Brushes for painting
- Small spray bottle
- Scissors
- Stabilo All pencil in black
- Gel medium or a heavier white glue that dries clear (like Elmer's)
- Glue stick
- Metal ruler 6"
- Old hotel/gift/credit card to spread paint
- Wet wipes
- Optional - stencils, stamps, collage parts you may wish to use
