Class Title Fabric Book Samplers: Fun & Creative Techniques for Manipulating Fabrics
Kristin Peterson
Mixed Media Artist & Teacher
Class Description
Join Kristin Peterson on a mixed media fabric exploration. In this single day class, we will be creating and recreating fabric by altering existing fabric and creating our own. Think color, glue, stitches, and maybe a bit more color….. There is permission to dip, paint, stitch, stencil, and stamp. We will create a stratum of fabric and parade through the layers. We will take a no-sew approach with the exception of a few shibori stitches. And plan to recycle boxboard for our outer “book.” Bring along your curiosity and sense of wonderment. Our pieces will embrace the unimagined and unexplored as we see what our fabric has to show us. Leave that inner critic at the door and let creativity bloom.

About Kristin: Kristin Peterson is a third generation artist, originally from South Dakota. Kristin’s creative passion is inspired and supported by her husband and kids. Kristin is always exploring and expanding the creative depths of mixed media. She very much enjoys vintage collage work. Kristin loves color and things that have a love-worn comfortable feeling-like an old favorite pair of jeans-coffee stained, patched, painted and well loved. She wants her art to project feelings and make people feel good while looking at it. Her work contains vibrance, mixed with a little funk, which is sprinkled with discreet sensibility. Her style is meant to make you ponder and smile, just as she does as she paints and creates.
