Soulful Mixed Media Self-Portraits for Healing the Creative Spirit
Tiffany Goff-Smith
Mixed Media Mess Maker
Class Description
Our wholeness lives in both our light and our shadow so, let’s explore self-portraits as an act of compassion, courage, and creative play. Through mixed media, stitching, and gentle reflection, we will create a whimsical portrait that honors the many sides of who we are. We will begin by working with light to explore what is visible, what we can celebrate, and what is ready to be expressed. Then we will look at shadow, not just as an art technique, but as what may be hidden or still trying to make its way to the light. Using fabric, paper, paint, and mark-making, you’ll give form to both aspects (the light and the shadow). Then, with needle and thread, you’ll stitch together what is ready to be reconnected. This interactive workshop is an invitation to quiet your inner critic, reclaim your wholeness, and remember that true healing can only happen when we honor everything about ourselves. No painting or portrait drawing experience is required, you just need to be willing to show up as you are and let your heart and hands lead the way. Experience Level: This session is for all skill levels.

About Tiffany: Tiffany will tell you that art changed her life. She always loved crafty things and fiddled with just about everything you can think of. She grew up with artists all around her, from a mom who could do anything (she never seemed to struggle or need to practice), to a brother who plays any musical instrument he tries. Then there was Tiffany, for her, art (and anything creative) seemed hard! So she retreated and told herself she didn't have any talent. Except for talking! It took some time, a person or two inspiring her, and of course the discovery of art journaling to bring us the Tiffany we know today. From forming beads for jewelry to painting on cardboard for 100 days in a row, Tiffany channels life’s challenges into painty messes. She says she is flabbergasted and humbled that people want to learn from her and honored that she gets to share her journey with so many other creatives. Tiffany is the founder of The Ugly Art Club, the creator of more than 400 Youtube videos, and the innovative mind behind Southern Gal's Designs. Follow and connect with Tiffany on Instagram.
