Watercolor Artist, Tarot Deck Creator, Harpist & Mountain Mermaid About Rachel Torda: Rachel weaves the world around her into everything she makes. Her painting practice helps her create a visual journal filled with sketches that inspire her to explore the theme of interconnectedness through the changing of the seasons, the cycles of growth in her garden, the moon phases, and the dance of the hummingbirds in summer, as well as the return of the intricate spiders’ webs in the fall.
She created the Flow Tarot and it expanded her observation to include all aspects of the water element. Living in the mountains of Western North Carolina in a 130-year-old home, Rachel is surrounded by moments of magic. There, the water flows in streams, rivers, and waterfalls. And from this magical mountain she paints, writes, creates decks, makes jewelry & teaches classes. She gardens, hikes, knits & journals. This is where she plays the harp, runs a letterpress & teaches college students about a 10th Century Christian Mystic named Hildegard. From wavy glass windows, she watches the seasons change across the mountains, walks gravel roads & looks for moss & mushrooms. She kicks through autumn leaves, crunches over winter snow & watches for spring’s first bulbs. In the summer, she plants the biggest dahlias she can find & tries to keep up with her own small vegetable & herb garden. Her wild & woodsy life refills her creative cup & spills over into everything she does. It is from this flow & this rhythm that she invites students to pay attention to the seasons of their lives & to creatively document it. Rachel is a Core Instructor in Kiala's Pull Pen Paint online program where she teaches watercolor classes, lectures on Hildegard, and shares illustrated versions of her favorite seasonal recipes. |

A 5-Hour Immersion with the Water Element through Ritual, Reflection, and Art
Step into an immersive experience using the water element in ritual, reflection, and art. The sacred current of your inner world can be nurtured through your relationship to water. Centered around Rachel Torda’s Flow Tarot, you’ll be guided through intuitive water rituals, a custom tarot spread designed to help you heal and reconnect with your creative spirit, and gentle reflective journaling. With brush in hand and heart open, you’ll use watercolor and symbolic mark-making to honor your emotional tides and express what’s ready to be released, transformed, healed, and aligned. This class blends tarot, ritual, and expressive watercolor art in a way that invites softness, surrender, and deep soul listening. Come ready to float, feel, and flow.
